Have you ever trained Jiu-Jitsu with someone wearing a dirty and stinky gi? At Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu, we believe our uniform is very special and an important part of Jiu-Jitsu, our gi is what gives us unity. Keeping it clean is a must so it lasts long and makes training fun for everyone! Taking care of our uniform is not a sign of respect to our training partners but also to ourselves and shows our commitment to the martial art.
Professor Andre Almeida shared his easy way to keep your GI fresh and clean. Here’s how to do it:
Step 1: Quick Wash with White Vinegar
After training, pop your gi in the washer.
Add white vinegar (great for killing bacteria and bad smells ).
Use a quick wash cycle to rinse away the sweat.
Step 2: Full Cycle with Detergent
Next, run a full wash with your favorite detergent.
For extra freshness, throw in scent boosters.
Want your gi to stay bright? Use whitening agents to keep it looking brand new!
Step 3: The Drying Process
Dry your Gi in the dryer with dryer sheets for that amazing smell.
Professor Andre’s Pro Tip: A white gi should look WHITE, not gray! Keep it clean, and your teammates will notice the difference. 🥋
